During the summer between my sophomore and junior year in college, I took a photography class. It was tedious. I hated fumbling with that canister you wrap negatives around. And I hated that smell in the darkroom. But I did like taking pictures. My favorite genre is landscape. To me, it's the least artistic. You see something pretty, you take out your camera, and you click that shutter.
I use a Canon dSLR (and recently purchased an old-school Zenit SLR) along with Photoshop for post-processing. I also use Lightroom for photo management. The bulk of my shots are of destinations I travel to and my family. Once in a while I'll head down to a local beach and snap away. I wish I were passionate enough about photography to take my camera everywhere I go, but it's just not the case.
